| Hyundai Hopman Cup have announced that Perth local Casey Dellacqua will team up with Lleyton Hewitt to represent Australia in the 2009 Hyundai Hopman Cup. This is a fantastic achievement for Australia’s number one female player. It will be Casey’s debut appearance at the Hyundai Hopman Cup, and she has this to say: |

STAFF CHANGES
| Tennis West are sadly saying goodbye to three staff members who have significantly contributed to the success of the association: Michael Belletty, Finance and IT Manager; Benita Bittner, Coach Development Coordinator; and Lora Pomare, Media and Communications Officer. Their time and commitment to Tennis West can not be justified with words, as all three have gone above and beyond their position requirements. Tennis West would like to thank Michael, Benita and Lora for their contribution and loyalty to the association and wish them all the very best for their future. |

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN TENNIS INDUSTRY AWARDS NIGHT
| The 2008 Western Australian Tennis Industry Awards Night, presented by Tennis West and supported by major sponsor, Chambers Insurance Brokers was a major success with over 240 guests attending. It was a night of celebration as Tennis West recognised outstanding and significant achievements within the Tennis Industry of Western Australia during the 2007/08 summer of tennis. |

SOUTHS STILL BEST IN THE WEST
2008 CBH COUNTRY ZONE CHALLENGE
| Western Australia’s South West tennis zone has taken the honors in a nail biter finish by defending their title of the CBH Country Zone Challenge. South West took out the title by one point over the inform Midwest zone team. It was the junior’s contribution that secured the win for the South, with 4 junior teams making the finals, and 2 prevailing on top. |

ROBERTSON PARK REVAMP
| On Sunday 27th April 2008 four new synthetic courts were opened at the western end of the first bay of grass courts at Robertson Park the home of Tennis Seniors. The new courts have lighting and are available for both Day & Night hire. The opening was performed in front of a large contingent of members and visitors by the Mayor for the Town of Vincent Mr Nick Catania, with John Hyde Member for Perth, Andrea Mitchell President and Gary Collis from Tennis West in attendance. During the day a round robin doubles competition was held. |

JOHN FORREST TAKES SLAZENGER CUP HONORS
| The Schools Tennis Classic is Western Australia's largest participation tennis competition, consisting of both a metropolitan and regional competition, whereby players represent their school in a team format. This week, the finals of the metropolitan secondary and primary school divisions were contested at the State Tennis Centre in Burswood. In the open secondary event (years 8 to 12), the Slazenger Cup, the boys' event saw John Forrest SHS (pictured left) defeat Sacred Heart College, to claim their first title in the competition's history, which started in 1913. |

FENNER AND BLACKWELL PROVE STATE LEAGUE DOMINANCE

| Cameron Fenner, captain of the winning State League team from Hensman Park Tennis Club, has had a fantastic season and is the winner of the Men’s Hyundai State League Most Valuable Player award for the 2007/08 season at the recent Western Australian Tennis Industry Awards night. The Linneys Women’s State League Most Valuable Player was Donna Blackwell from City Beach Tennis Club, who also took out the title last year. Donna won 19 rubbers and lost just 2 rubbers throughout the season. |

FLINDELL WINS DISABLED PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

| Glen Flindell (Pictured in centre) claimed the Disabled Player of the Year award. Glen has had some impressive results over the past 12 months. Glen combined with Francis Ma (Pictured right) and Greg Lessing (Pictured left) to clinch the title for WA at the Australian Deaf Games in January, as well as claiming the gold medal in the singles and doubles events. |

MOORE TAKES JUNIOR TENNIS STAR TITLE

| At the recent 2008 Western Australian Tennis Industry Awards, Jessica Moore, claimed the prestigious Sylvania Lighting Junior Tennis Star of the Year award. Jessica had an impressive season in junior & senior competitions. She made the final of the Australian Open Junior Championships, the Quarter Finals of the US Open Juniors and reached Round 16 at Roland Garros Juniors. Jessica achieved a career high junior world ranking of 26. |
